Karugo, with his sinister appearance reminiscent of a Heysha (a hybrid of Hey and prehistoric animals), was always a target of collective ostracism wherever he went. He once worked as an apprentice under a kind-hearted blacksmith at the Heijend (Forge of the Heijen Gods). However, he was tempted by the curiosity and greed when a stranger he chanced upon insinuated that he could make something even greater than what his master could craft. In response, Karugo stole one of the magical weapons crafted by his master and claimed it as his own creation, thus triggering his latent ambition and greed. As a reward for this deceit, he obtained the position of a weapons merchant in Weidete. However, this stranger was revealed to be Morgan, another aspect of Haken, consolidated with the flesh of Rubal, embodying darkness itself.
